A sporty week

This week has been money and sport week in school. We have all been extremely busy.
On Monday we experimented with jellies and here we are enjoying eating the results. These are some photos of the country dancing on Tuesday afternoon. The weather was lovely and it was brilliant to see so many parents watching and joining in the fun.
Unfortunately the weather meant that sports day was cancelled on Friday but we enjoyed practicing the different races on Wednesday morning and are hoping it will be able to go ahead on Tuesday 13th July.
We were very lucky this week to have Ms Redpath's son Jack helping us on work experience. Thank you Jack for all your hard work.

Lovely weather and goodbyes

Today we had to say goodbye to Jo who has been working in YR since February. The children (and teachers) will all miss her very much, she has been a fantastic help and great with the children. We wish her good luck in her next placement. Today we also said goodbye to our butterflies which have been busy emerging from their cocoons. It was very exciting to see the butterflies flying away in search of food.
We have been very lucky with the weather this week and have had a great time outside doing various activities.

Next week is Sports week - May Day dancing on Tuesday and Sports Day on Friday, lets hope the weather stays nice!

Zoo visit

This week YR went on their annual trip to the zoo. We had a fantastic day, the children behaved brilliantly and the weather was lovely. The children really enjoyed seeing all the animals and during the minibeast workshop lots of very brave children held a cockroach and a beetle larva. They also had a chance to stroke a stick insect!

Over the last couple of days we have been following up our trip with lots of animal related activities. We've done some great paintings of our favourite zoo animals and written some sentences about what we saw there.
A big thank you to all the parents who were able to help out on the trip.

New challenges

Thank you to all those children and parents who have been working hard on their holiday homework.
Here is us on Friday looking very sporty in celebration of the start of the World Cup in South Africa. This week we have busy learning new skills and starting our new topic about animals. On Wednesday and Thursday we begun practising some country dances ready for our display later this term.
On Thursday morning we went up to the computer room to learn how to log onto the school network using the special user name and password.
At the beginning of the week we all enjoyed making and tasting popcorn.
Next week is our zoo trip, fingers crossed for lovely weather!
