The sun shone on us this week which made a perfect setting for our Bikes and scooters week. We all enjoyed riding our vehicles around the big playground, following routes and making roads and using the zebra crossing. It was good to see our skills at moving with care, turning, racing and stopping carefully - always keeping an eye out for pedestrians! On Friday we celebrated winning the Golden Lunchbox (again!) with a '10 minute bubble party', which was thoroughly enjoyed by all of us! We also really enjoyed the Maths Roadshow with Craig's story about the birthday party on Friday afternoon.

monsters inc!
A lot has been going on this week in Reception. We have had messages from our alien friend Zadara and lots of children have been responding to them by writing messages back, making models and drawing maps - all of which seem to have been gratefully received. This week has been Science week and on Thursday afternoon Reception got together with Years 1 and 2 for a 'mix up'. We visited each other's classrooms and had fun experimenting together. Friday was 'Red Nose Day' and we all dressed up as Monsters to raise money for Children in Need. Next week is Bike week so don't forget your bikes or scooters and helmets please!

A visitor from outer space
Exciting times this week, as Reception received cards and letters from an alien called Zadara! Zadara asked the children all about their life on Earth and the children responded immediately by writing letters back. Next came a puzzle to solve about the heaviness of Zadara's moon rocks. Out came the balance scales and much weighing was carried out to resolve the problem. Then the children made clay models of Zadara and wrote labels on them as their display of strange looking creatures had made Ms Gower and Heather jump when they saw them on Thursday evening!

The 10 minute disco treat
After a busy week learning how to do marbling and doing lots of work about subraction, Reception were delighted to win the Golden Lunchbox for their excellent behaviour at lunchtimes this week. Their treat was a Ten Minute Disco which took place on Friday afternoon in the Sports Hall. What a success! And what a great start to a new term!
