Our space adventure

This week we have been learning how to 'subtract' or 'take away' in maths. We put some cars in a car park and then found out how many were left when some drove away.
On Thursday night there was a disco after school. YR enjoyed dancing, being with their friends and spending their pocket money on sweets and toys. This is some of us dancing to Thriller by Michael Jackson.

This week we started our new topic about transport with a focus on space. We made rockets and got a message from Zadara, an alien from the planet Zodak.

Chinese New Year

This week YR have been finding out all about Chinese New Year. On Monday we made some spring rolls and tried some noodles, which we all enjoyed. On Thursday we listened to some Chinese music, watched some clips of Dragon dances and then learnt a song and danced to the music too - a busy afternoon!
This week we have also been learning about shapes. We made some shapes using lollipop sticks, matchsticks and paper. We have also made some shape flap books where we had to think of a clue to describe a shape.
All the teachers have been really impressed with all the things that the children have been bringing in to share about Chinese New Year. Thank you for the fantastic response.
Have a great half term.

Hard work

This week our teachers have been really impressed by our hard work. We have been doing lots of writing and maths work independently showing how much we have learnt so far this year.
Some of us have been writing lists of food we like, others have been matching objects to the letter they begin with. Quite a lot of us have really enjoyed playing with numbers, ordering them and practising writing them on whiteboards.
Our teachers have also been impressed with the number of things that children are bringing in from home to share, either to do with our topic or writing or maths. Keep it up YR.

Next week we will be learning all about Chinese New Year, anything from home to do with this would be greatly appreciated.
