rockets and school days

This week our new topic on Transport was launched with a reading of 'Whatever Next'. This prompted re-enactments of Teddy's journey and some fine rockets made out of junk. The children worked on their models in 2s with great success.

Our outside role play area was also re-opened as a school. What a success! We have budding teachers and actors in our midst, doing some great impressions of Ms Redpath, Ms Gower and Miss Sainsbury! Seems like the children are taking control of their own learning too as they willingly practise their 'Letters and Sounds' in this little class room!

The Giant Sandwich

We finished work on our topic 'Food and shopping' by listening to the story 'The Giant Sandwich'. Then we had fun making and tasting sandwiches before putting pictures in the right order and writing instructions so that we know how to make the perfect sandwich! A survey was carried out to find out who has packed lunch and who has school dinner and then we put this information into a 'graph' picture using a program in the ICT suite.

Have a lovely holiday everyone and see you next term when our topic will be about 'Transport and Travel'.

Perfect pizza

It's been all about pizzas this week. We started by reading the story 'The Princess and the pizza'. This inspired us to write about the type of pizzas we would like, to make collage pizzas ready for labelling and even to taste a selection of pizzas and discuss our likes and dislikes. We have carried on with our bag making. We have used kitchen utensils to make different sounds to accompany a song about making cakes.
