A healthy week

This week we used the large apparatus for the first time during our PE lesson. We all had great fun exploring different ways of moving on the apparatus. Miss Gower and Mrs Williamson were really impressed by how sensible we were during the session.
This week we also made some fruit kebabs during our cooking session. We are very grateful to Lucy's Dad for the donation of a great variety of fruits. The results looked and tasted very yummy.
Our main focus this week was learning to add two groups of objects together to find how many things we had altogether. We also learnt how to write a number sentence (e.g. 2 + 3 = 5) and what the symbols + and = mean.

Shops

This week the weather finally improved and we were able to go on our trip to North Street. The children all had a great time. The glass shop proved to be the most popular choice for our £2 spending money with the bakers a close second. Thank you to all the parents for their support with this trip.
This week we have also been doing a lot of work on retelling stories with a focus on the Gingerbread Man. Can you tell your parents the story along with the actions we thought of?

More snow!

Here are some photos of us enjoying another snowy week in YR.
This week in class we've been learning how to find one more and one less. We played bingo to practise this skill.
We also did some great observational drawings of vegetables which are now up on display in the classroom - feel free to come and see.
We have been writing shopping lists and our teachers are really pleased with how well we are remembering our sounds and using them to help us write words like ham.
We are all looking forward to our trip to North Street next week and are really hoping the weather is good.

SNOW!!

This week it snowed a lot so the school was shut on Wednesday. It started to snow on Tuesday and we went outside and caught snowflakes on our tongues. On Thursday we played outside at lunchtime. We made snowmen, threw snowballs and made footprints in the snow. On Wednesday morning Mr Woodcock took some snowy pictures outside our classroom.

This week we have started our food topic and read the story The Princess and The Pizza. We wrote a sentence asking for our favourite pizza and made a collage of a pizza which we labelled. Finally we had a pizza tasting and here are some pictures of us enjoying the pizzas.

We will be going on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th January instead. If you are able to help on either of these dates please let us know as soon as possible.
We are really sorry for any inconvenience caused.
