last week as part timers

Reception have completed the first 4 weeks as part timers at Luckwell. Next week, we are in for all day every day! We practised this a bit by staying for lunch and going out to play. We made 'hello' cards which have been given to our new class mates. Some of us are looking forward to meeting up with old friends and some of us are feeling a bit anxious about not knowing everyone. Don't worry! We will have lots of opportunities to get to know each other but just remember that it's even more important now to listen carefully so we know what to do!

Words that rhyme

We started our Literacy work this week by reading a favourite book 'Each Peach Pear Plum. We talked about our favourite pages and discovered some words that 'sound the same' - or rhyme. We played a game called Odd One Out, finding words that didn't belong in a sequence of rhyming ones. Clever stuff! This week we have chosen our first book to take home and share. Please remember to bring book bags in every day from now on! We also had our first PE lesson in the gigantic sports hall and learnt a game called 'Traffic Lights'.

Feelings and fun in week 2

We have had lots of fun in and out of the classroom again this week. We have been using the traffic role play equipment and the big brushes to do lots of 'painting' outside and inside we have made some fantastic marble runs. We have been thinking a lot about different feelings and have looked at photos, talked about how we feel sometimes and made faces to show how we are feeling at different times. We have actually made some 'happy and sad' faces to put up with our human size display in the classroom too.

First week in Reception

Congratulations to all Reception children on a fantastic first week in school. All your teachers are so pleased with the way you are settling in already and beginning to learn our routines! And haven't we been busy?! We've been getting to know each other during our circle times and finding out what activities we can do. We've enjoyed playing in the outside area with the sand, the hoops, the play-dough and the play house equipment and inside on the computer or with the construction sets. We've already got some smashing displays up of our Art work, been singing rhymes (adding new words too!) and listened to stories. Not forgetting, of course, meeting Mr Foxy and telling him all about ourselves. We look forward to seeing you next week!
