Year R Explore

.
Yesterday we went on a fantastic trip to Explore @ Bristol. We really enjoyed the Airport Roleplay area where we dressed up and took on the roles of pilots, passengers and air traffic controllers. Ashley got lots of stamps in her passport

We loved all the exhibits, especially the magical hot air balloon and the colour activities upstairs. In the Planetarium we went into space and explored the milky way! Thank you to all the helpers and parents for coming with us. It was a really special day. 'Thumbs up' says Jorja.

Red Noses

This week we have been learning about 2D shapes - triangles, circles, squares and oblongs and 3D shapes - cylinders, pyramids, cubes and cuboids. We have been on a shape hunt round the school and found shapes in all sorts of places. Lucy Nixon and Jorja enjoyed using the number lines.

We have been investigating our transport topic by making boats and testing them in the water tank.

Today was Red Nose Day. We were allowed to wear silly clothes and red noses. We had a fun whole school dance in the playground. We are really looking forward to playing in our space rocket that Shona and Nicola made!

Wheels and thrills

We had great fun this week using our bikes to negotiate obstacles in the playground. We were very creative in using the cones and hoops to weave in and out. Tom has mastered the art of the emergency stop, including a hand signal!

We have continued to explore non-fiction texts, leaning about different modes of transport.

In numeracy we are getting very good at subtracting and lots of us are writing fantastic number sentences.

Mrs Thwaites was really impressed with all the letters and sounds we have learned since she last taught us. There were so many names on the smiley board they wouldn't fit on the paper! Well done Year R - a fantastic week.
