Making sandwiches

It's been all about making sandwiches this week. We listened to the story 'The Giant Sandwich' then began making our own sandwiches. Spreading butter is hard! Then we each made a book of instructions on how to make a sandwich making sure to get the pictures and words in the right order or course! We've been learning how to make charts in ICT, so this week we made a chart showing how many of us have a packed lunch and how many have school dinners. We've also enjoyed singing songs about food and supermarket shopping. Outside, we've had some new equipment which we have had fun using to build all manner of things, from movie cameras to chocolate making machines.

Happy New Year of the Rabbit!

This week we have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have listened to and then retold the story about the animal race and how it all began; made lanterns, purses, masks and tried our hand at Chinese style writing. We've experimented using chopsticks for picking things up and even for eating rice. We've shared our 'homework' (thanks everybody for your help here)and found out that we are either Dogs or Roosters! We tasted Oliver and his mum's 'sweet and sour'. Delicious! We were lucky to watch Y2 perform their Dragon Dance and this inspired us to make up our own dances using the pretty cloths and ribbons.
