Happy Easter

Our last week of term has been busy. The children enjoyed their Easter Bonnet Parade and it was great to see so many parents etc in the audience. Thanks for all the lovely comments you left. On Thursday we visited the Life Bus and were entertained by Sam and Harold the Giraffe, finding out all about how and why we need to stay healthy and what happens to our bodies when we exercise. Thursday afternoon was party time as the children had won all their class marbles. We were impressed by their good behaviour throughout. We hope you all have a lovely holiday and that the sun shines on us all! See you on April 16th.

Beebots

At last! A reasonably quiet week with nice weather so the children were able to spend a lot of time outside. We had fun playing with the Beebot programmable toys this week, making them go in all different directions and making tracks for them to travel down.

Don't forget your Easter hats for next Wednesday 28 March. Parents and Carers are invited to join us in the Hall for a Parade of bonnets, some songs and then there will be an opportunity to share Learning Diaries with your child.

Science Week

Another incredibly busy week! The whole school took part in many different Science activities to celebrate 'Science week', culminating in a fun 'mix-up' session on Friday afternoon where children from all classes mixed into smaller groups to work on different experiments together. Also this week, Reception were treated to a visit from a visually impaired lady and her guide dog which was very interesting. We also had an 'Airport Day' on Thursday. We made passports and were issued with boarding cards. Once on board we enjoyed eating our 'aeroplane meal' which we had prepared earlier that day. Again, much fun was had by all and thanks to Mrs Gregory for organising such a successful event.

Bike week

We have had lots of fun this week riding our own bikes and scooters in the school playground. We used the traffic equipment to set up roadways, zebra crossings and other obstacles to practise our manoeuvring skills with great success. The playground became a bike repair shop too as children 'mended' their bikes and scooters with the different tools. We talked about the need for safety, checking helmets were securely fastenend and brakes in good working order. We drew careful observational drawings of Ms Redpath's bike and learnt a song about 5 wonky bicycles.
Next week is Science Week so look forward to trying out some fun experiments!

Messages from outer space

The children were thrilled this week to receive a message from Zadara, an alien from another planet, who had written asking for details about themselves. Many pictures and messages have been sent back and, on Friday, another message came asking for help to solve a 'moon rock weighing' problem. Several children had a go at solving this challenge too. We also enjoyed ourselves celebrating World Book Day and thanks to Freddie's mum for coming in to read with the children. Finally, the class won the 'Golden Lunch Box' for great behaviour in the dining room this week and were awarded with a 10 minute bubble party! Well done!
Don't forget your bikes or scooters next week.
