Shopping and Gingerbread Man
Another busy week in Reception. This week we went in 2 groups to look at the shops and do some real shopping on North Street. Thanks again to all our parents who helped to make this possible and another well done to the children for their absolutely terrific behaviour. We had fun back in class finding out what we spent our money on, and all the different shops we saw. Beats shopping at the supermarket!
We have started our new big book - The Gingerbread Man. We have had fun listening to and then retelling the story by putting pictures in the right order; also helping Ms Gower remember the story as she had completely forgotten it by Friday! We are sorry to say goodbye to George Hazell today who is moving out of Bristol and wish him and his family lots of luck for the future.

happy new year and welcome back
Welcome back everyone and very best wishes for 2011. We have started the term well with our new topic about food and shopping. We have enjoyed playing in the cafe, practising being waiting staff, chefs and customers. We have made necklaces using pasta (and some of us are still wearing them!) and even tasted different pizza toppings. Fantastic writing has been going on too; starting last week when we received a card from poor old Foxy in hospital! Everyone wrote cards back, telling him all about our presents from Santa. This week, we've been writing about our weekend activities and about our favourite pizzas. In number work, we've started working out one more/less than a given number and putting our knowledge into action when thinking about real life problems, like is there enough fruit!
