Working hard

This week YR have been working really hard. Monday was a literacy day and Tuesday was numeracy. Our teachers were really impressed by how fantastic we were at both. On Thursday we worked with a partner to try and make a boat that would float out of junk materials. We all tried hard and thought carefully about what to use. After testing our boats we thought about why they did or didn't float. Aimee was able to explain that it would have worked better if they had used plastic because it is waterproof.

We have also been practising some songs for our Easter Bonnet parade on Wednesday morning. We hope lots of you are able to join us at 9:10 and hopefully stay afterwards to see our Learning Diaries.

Bikes and aeroplanes

This week we were treated to an aeroplane meal courtesy of our air hostess - Ms Redpath!
We have all enjoyed playing with a motor skills set kindly donated by Ashton Park School. We have enjoyed setting up mini assault courses and setting ourselves physical challenges.

A lot of this week has been about bikes. We have all had the chance to bring our bikes or scooters into school and we set up courses in the playground with cones and traffic signs.

We were also lucky enough this week to have a visit from the Bike It man - Ian, who talked to us about bikes in the past and showed us how to make Penny Farthings out of pipe cleaners.

@Bristol trip

On Thursday YR went on a trip to Explore @Bristol. They had a fantastic time, Shelby and Isobel both commented that it was the best day they had ever had.There was lots to see and here are just a few of the pictures we took of the children enjoying the exhibits.

Here we are at the end of our trip going for a quick look at the boats.

A big well done to all the children for their excellent behaviour. It was lovely to overhear a lady on the bridge commenting on how well behaved they were.

Also thank you to all our parent helpers, we really appreciate you giving up your time.

World Book Day

On Thursday it was World Book Day. We all came in dressed as characters from books and enjoyed sharing our favourite books with our friends. Here we are in our fantastic costumes!
Earlier in the week we did some cooking and here we are enjoying some pasta salad.
This week we have been retelling the story of 'Whatever Next', all about a teddy that goes into space. In maths we were weighing moon rocks and finding out which were heaviest and which were lightest. Finally we have been learning how to use a Bee-Bot.
